According to an article in the NY Times, yes indeed they are.
Why? Because, basically, men are working less and women are working more. Or, to quote, “women now have a much longer to-do lists than they once did…. They can’t possibly get it all done, and many end up feeling as if they are somehow falling short.”
No surprises on the size of the to do list ladies, but is it making us unhappy? I'm not unhappy but I also wouldn't say that I don't have a lot on my mind all the time... I also like to think I am the inventor of FUN in our household but come to think of it, a lot of it is planned or scheduled fun (play dates, gymnastics class, etc.) and not the spontaneous, giggle fest type of fun that entails Will & Samme wrestling on the ground or rolling in a pile of snow.
And as much as I love my husband, I do feel that he sometimes thinks - “Oh, it’s just Jenny who is overwhelmed and if she just did yoga and meditated everyday and was more chill about life in general, she would be a HAPPIER mama and wifey.” Will's mantra is "If it doesn't get done, it doesn't get done," while mine is "stay calm and carry on."
We've already discussed on this blog that the busiest weekend EVER to me, was nothin' to Will.
So, all of you ladies - Let's VOW to have more FUN! Let's take time for ourselves to RECHARGE our batteries (use your momME or organizeME planners and schedule some ME-time in and leave some time for unscheduled fun too). Let's set a great example to our kids about how happiness comes from within...

I think my husband is happier because he has less to do! ;-)
