{ spending hiatus - month 4: week 1 - the falling off the wagon edition }

I was doing SO good... And I stayed out of Anthropologie last week. And I was feeling pretty darn proud of myself. And then, I fell off the wagon. Now, some of this stuff was planned and we had money set aside for it (eg. the pond liner)...but thick plastic is darn expensive and the associated costs (ditch digger, more dirt, manual labor, etc.) caught me a bit off guard...oh and then there were the new trees and the flowers for around the pond...and the metal wind sculpture for the garden...and the new temple bell windchime...and the cute new dress for sam and the new lunchbox for kindergarten... yikes. But, now that this huge landscaping project is done, I'm done. Spending that is. I'm glad I'm not Catholic. This confession stuff isn't fun.

I seriously need to do the spending hiatus. We have some back to school shopping to do and then it's time to tighten the belt. As always, you're inspirational!

Hilarious post... I'm glad I'm not Catholic too because I had to confess myself this week about my shopping trip! Back to school time is going to make it difficult to not spend money (especially when my 6 year old has grown 3 inches since March!)

wow, is that truly a pond? it looks more like a lake : )

getting ready for school doesn't count - right?

yeah its a pond but nicknamed "crater lake" because for the past 2 summers it has looked like a meteor hit our yard and caused a huge dirt hole to appear. samme really likes it filled w/ water and way cheaper than a swimming pool! ;-) i'll post more pics when it is all done! j

Wow. Wow. Wow. Looks like money well spent. Seriously, it looks pretty darn amazing.

We're starting to think abt backpacks, school clothes and shoes and such. Does that really have to count?

Have a good weekend enjoying your hard work.
