{ princess power }

So despite my best attempts, Sam loves everything "princessy." Cinderalla movies, Beauty & the Beast books, princess dress up gowns and crowns, etc. This Newsweek article talks about the future of the $4B princess industry (of which I think I have paid about $400 towards already...ugh). I'm trying not to freak out about it too much as I'm hopeful it is just a stage. And no Disney World for us. I am not going to instigate this infatuation any further!

My daughter loves princesses & barbies too - I hate it! I hope its just a phase.

I'm not sure how old your daughter is, but mine is 4 and the princess obsession is in full effect.

Once they've been exposed, consider yourself doomed to paying Disney everytime a new DVD is released. Oh, and try to hide those "princess castle" commercials for as long as possible, they're pure evil.

But, I am so happy to have a girl, so I give in...she's a little princess afterall.

On the birth of Ab, I insisted...no disney princesses are welcome in my house. On the birth of Iz, I reinstated the rule...no disney princesses are welcome in my house. Honey, I take your $400 and up it to around 4 times that it seems. FYI, we just got back from seeing Disney Princesses on Ice...both girls dressed in full princess regalia (ball gown, tiara, wand, glass slippers). I would be so happy to return to the blissful ignorance of the mass marketing beast Disney has unleashed on our young daughters!!!!! I am sure I can make my four year olds wildest dreams come true....all I need is a prince....hmmmmm.....
